Monster Free-For-All, Round Four
Impressively, Werewolves handily overcame Vampires heading into the semi-finals. Every year for the last twenty-plus years, there's been a vampire movie at the theaters or a vampire novel on the best-seller list, but can it be that they've worn out their welcome? Please notice that at no point did I suggest that we "did not invite them in" to the semi-finals, because come on. On the far end of the poll, Golems made an overnight rally against Frankenstein-type creatures. Folks, I guarantee that no one saw Minotaurs versus Golems coming down the pike, it was frankly a surprise to me too. We're currently in the position of possibly seeing a battle between Minotaurs and Werewolves in the finals, which frankly is pretty awesome sounding. I wish someone were making movies of all of these matchups, my Netflix queue would be a mile long.

Poll #1278355 Okay, Round Four!

And the rules again, because you can't be trusted:
And I'm reposting the rules because apparently if I leave them out for a single post, some'a you get inflammamitis braincaseius and start getting up my short-shorts with cleats on, "What about Mothmaaaaannnnn?"

Monsters were chosen by the following guidelines:
  • No individual specific monsters - i.e. Count Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster - were selected. Monsters are defined solely by TYPE.
  • For the purposes of this poll, only human-like monsters were used, excluding all non-human monsters such as dragons, evil animals and, I don't know, cursed refrigerators or something
  • Which are the two reasons neither King Kong nor Godzilla are on this list. Now you know.
  • All monsters come from this Wikipedia list and also a couple I remembered.
  • It's limited to 30 participants by way of LJ Poll limitations, so none of this "OH YOU FORGOT MOTHMANS" or whatever, I had to make cuts.
  • However, convincing suggestions made in comments will encourage me to add monsters in the bye rounds.
  • Your selection criteria is totally your own, decide between the monsters however you feel is appropriate.

I don't understand how Golems can lead Minotaurs. Minotaurs have horns, and live in mazes. How cool is that?

Golems are unstoppable men of clay. They're like early Terminators.

Immortal clay does. Also, Clayface would kick a minotaur's ass.

I can't take minotaurs seriously because they remind me too much of Mantaur.

Golems have the true and eternal Name of God written on their foreheads. That's pretty fucking badass.

Last night I watched An American Werewolf in London, and in return for the ridiculous pleasure it afforded me, I herein cast my vote for the werewolves.

I think minotaurs are more viscerally frightening, but golems don't get nearly enough play.

Look, if Theseus can beat a minotaur, than an invincible clay robot can damn well beat the hell out of one.

I'd have to vote for demons over the rather tapped-out werewolves, although if it had been were-creatures (all types), I would have gone the other way. There aren't enough stories about were-housecats, were-monkeys, and were-squid.

Golems over minotaurs as golems are the closest of the pair to robots, and robots are pretty cool. Minotaurs are OK, but they don't tend to get a lot of press. Also, golems are more likely to show up in groups.
