President Dog

President Dog

My wife and I don't own a dog, so we certainly don't have any particular need for a tin container for Milk-Bones, BUT --- we found this at Value Village and were sorely tickled by how much like an official portrait of elected office this picture resembles. We call him President Dog.

"My fellow dogs, in this time of great national hardship ... woof."

If elected, I promise a hydrant on every corner and a milk bone in every dish. I will fight to my dying breath for the complete eradication of cats and for the support of the enlargement of the country's parks. I will de-regulate chew toys. Elect me, President Dog!

I picture him surrounded by big Doberman and Great Dane security-detail bodyguards in sunglasses and earpieces.

I don't think America is ready for a French Bulldog president. Maybe a Labrador or a Jack Russel...

I am really, really surprised no one has photoshopped a lame HOPE poster joke.

That is a fucking great tin. When I worked at the antique store, I vowed to collect tins with dudes with badass facial hair. My collection is not as robust as I had hoped, but I do have Prince Albert in a can, and that's something.

That is superb, and I live in hope that you receive that fateful phone call one day ...

Two birthdays ago, a gentleman friend of a friend called to ask me just that question.

"Actually," I said, "I DO."

"I figured you, of all people, would." And he hung up.
