My first entry for the Superman: Man of Style contest over at Project:Rooftop.

Here is my sun-god Superman, I'm thinking of him as a Fourth World Hercules, a costume he might wear while crusading in the eternally youthful, transfigurative world of the New Gods. This is my first design of four, although I wonder should I even bother with the other three, because this one is easily the strongest.
There are a few very iconic elements which I think you need to keep when you're looking at redesigning the Superman costume. ( Oh boy, here I go ... )

I legitimately hope that, inspired by the Obamas, folks not only start giving fist bumps instead of handshakes, but they also follow up with a quick "thumbs-up" and a pat on the ass. I see the entire firmament of America changed forever.
Since, as I bragged earlier, I was the guy who suggested that Project:Rooftop violate their own Guideline #7 so as to host this redesign contest, I'm taking a certain amount of pride in the redesigns I'm seeing out there so far. I've only caught two, but if you see any more or have done one of your own, holler and let me know!
Here are the one I know about:

Hey
archaica, weren't you the one wondering whatever happened to the illustrated movie poster?
Besides the artful Mignola-created and del Toro-directed Hellboy, points must also go to the new Batman Movie
